Letters of Support: Bonny’s Story
Hello,
After months of rehabilitation following an illness, I was referred to the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) and encouraged to enroll in the CTP Skill Center. At the time, I didn’t know what to expect—or if I was truly ready to return to the workforce.
From the very beginning, people like Devin O’Keefe and Carrie made a difference. They didn’t just guide me through the program—they listened to my story, understood my struggles, and reminded me that I still had potential. Their encouragement came at a time when I needed it most.
As the weeks went on, I began to find my footing. Through structured lessons in Google Suite and weekly interview and resume practice, I slowly rebuilt not only my skills, but my confidence. I remember how difficult it felt at first to answer even simple interview questions. I felt unsure of myself. But with patience, support, and constant encouragement—especially from Carrie—I began to believe in myself again.
What stood out most was that no one was ever left behind. No matter how frustrated or overwhelmed someone felt, the instructors showed patience, kindness, and a willingness to help in any way they could. That kind of support is something you don’t forget.
Today, I have been back at work for three months—something that once felt out of reach. And yet, I still find myself missing CTP. It wasn’t just a program; it was a place where I felt supported, understood, and capable again. I am deeply grateful to Carrie, Devin, Marc, Mike, and Jose for the impact they’ve had on my life.
Through this experience, I didn’t just gain job skills—I learned empathy, patience, and the importance of lifting others up. Those lessons stay with me every day.
What CTP means to me:
CTP means hope. It means a second chance when you’re not sure you’ll get one. It’s a place where people are seen for who they can become, not where they’ve been. It gave me the strength and confidence to move forward when I felt stuck.
Impact of CTP:
CTP changes lives. It helps people rebuild their confidence, regain independence, and return to the workforce with dignity. It creates a sense of belonging and reminds people that they still have something to offer. That impact doesn’t just stay with the individual—it reaches families, workplaces, and the community as a whole.
But programs like CTP cannot continue this work without support.
At a time when the need is growing, so many individuals are still searching for a path back to stability and independence. CTP provides that path—but only if it has the resources to do so. Funding ensures that more people like me have access to training, guidance, and a real opportunity to rebuild their lives.
I am living proof of what this program can do.
An investment in CTP is an investment in people—people who are ready to work, contribute, and move forward, but just need the opportunity and support to get there.
Thank You for taking the time to read my letter!
Best,
Bonny Lee
