Accessible Home Ownership Seminar

If you tend to think you’ll never be able to afford to own a home or that you couldn’t find a home that meets your accessibility needs, this free seminar is for you.  Come learn how to find an accessible home AND be able to afford it.

This accessible home ownership seminar will be presented by two experts in their respective fields: Stephen Beard of the Beard Realty Team , and Tom Foley of the World Institute on Disability (WID).

Tom runs WID’s Access to Assets Program that promotes financial literacy and asset-building as an anti-poverty strategy to help low-income people with disabilities purchase long-term assets and realize their dreams, gaining greater independence in the process.

Stephen is a realtor in the Berkeley area who specializes in finding accessible homes for disabled home buyers and their families.  His in-depth knowledge of where accessible properties are located allows him to connect buyers with sellers who have already made their homes accessible.  He also links buyers with lenders who can offer special financing programs for people with disabilities.

During this free seminar, you will learn about:

  • Finding accessible real estate
  • Saving money (asset building)
  • Improving your credit
  • Section 8 home ownship

When:  Wednesday, April 30, 2014, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
